In a telephone conversation, the Presidents of Iran and France examined the ways to develop bilateral relations, and discussed regional developments as well as talks on lifting sanctions.
French President Emmanuel Macron had a telephone conversation with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi on Saturday afternoon.
In this 90-minute phone conversation, the presidents of the two countries examined the ways to develop bilateral relations, and discussed regional developments as well as talks on lifting sanctions.
Regarding the development of bilateral relations, Dr Raisi referred to the miscalculations of some European governments about Iran and called it the result of falling in the intelligence trap of hostile groups, terrorists and separatist groups, and stressed avoiding interference in international affairs and emphasised respect for the principle of national sovereignty.
The President also referred to the latest status of the sanctions lifting negotiations, the cooperation between Iran and the IAEA and the repeated confirmations of the Agency on Iran's adherence to its legal obligations and emphasised on avoiding any kind of politicism and non-constructive actions in the negotiations.
The issue of war in Ukraine was also part of the talks between the two presidents on regional issues, where Dr Raisi declared the Islamic Republic's firm policy of opposing war, and considered diplomacy as the best solution.
In this phone call, French President Emmanuel Macron also stressed that France is seeking interaction with Iran and demanded the continuation of talks between the officials of the two countries to strengthen bilateral relations.
Emphasising on the continuation of negotiations to lift sanctions until reaching a conclusion, the French President considered the Islamic Republic of Iran as a part of the solution to the Ukraine crisis and demanded that Iran play a greater role in this regard.
