The meeting of the State Social Council was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi.
In this meeting, referring to the importance and necessity of everyone's respect for the law, the President described the issue of hijab as a Shari'a necessity and a legal requirement agreed upon by members of the Iranian society, and emphasising that all officials agree on the issue of hijab, he said, "The social experience of the Islamic Revolution showed that the women and girls of this land emphasise on maintaining chastity and hijab as a security-creating priority by living a chaste and religious life".
Referring to the necessity of the rule of law in social life, Dr Raisi called on the cultural institutions, including the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution, education and broadcasting, to make more efforts to explain the issues related to hijab and chastity and to clear some doubts in this field.
Addressing the people, especially the young, and said, "In an issue like the hijab, it is necessary for everyone to feel responsible, and although some people may have different opinions on this matter, in social life, adherence to legal standards should be considered as a principle".
The President also emphasised the support of the responsible institutions for those who enjoin the good, and called the hijab the most important advice and will of all the honourable martyrs of Islamic Iran and added, "It is necessary for the State Social Council, as the responsible party, to create the necessary coordination in various departments and monitor the implementation of the law to provide the grounds for maintaining social security".
Ayatollah Raisi congratulated the birthday of Imam Mahdi (AS) and pointing out we are approaching the holy month of Ramadan, saying, "We have no doubt that the proud women and girls who are educated in the school of the Islamic Revolution will have the most support in observing and respecting the law".
In this meeting, it was also decided that the State Social Council should put efforts to reduce social harms such as divorce and addiction on the agenda and report the results of the measures taken on a continuous basis.
At the beginning of this meeting, the Secretary of the State Social Council presented a report on the actions taken by the secretariat of the council.
