On Saturday evening, the President had a conversation with the family of Tabrizi security defender Hossein Oujaghi.
In this telephone conversation, Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi expressed his gratitude for the efforts of this high-ranking martyr in confronting rioters and protecting the security of the historical city of Tabriz in the past days, and congratulated and condoled his martyrdom to his family.
The President described the magnificent presence of the people at the funeral ceremony of Martyr Oujaghi as a symbol of the society's attachment to the culture of sacrifice and martyrdom and noted, "The epic presence of the people of Tabriz at the funeral ceremony of this noble martyr is a sign of the people's gratitude towards the defenders of security and their disgust with rioters and disrupters of public order and security".
Ayatollah Raisi called the hero-breeding region of Azerbaijan the centre of the efforts for Iran's independence and freedom in contemporary history and said, "Tabriz, whether during the Islamic Revolution or before it, has always been one of the most important bases for the defence of Iran's independence and freedom, and even today, the Popular Administration and patriots of this city will not allow the security that was obtained at the cost of the blood of hundreds of thousands of martyrs to be undermined by organised groups and opponents of the Islamic Republic of Iran".
At the end of this conversation, Dr Raisi emphasised on the pursuing Martyr Oujaghi's martyrdom case by the responsible authorities and assured the family of the martyr that the government will seriously work together with the security agencies and the judiciary to punish the perpetrators of this crime.
Martyr Hossein Oujaghi was one of the Basij forces of Tabriz city, who was stabbed by the rioters during the confrontation with the recent riots in this city and achieved the high degree of martyrdom.
