Speaking in a meeting of Cabinet's Economic Coordination Board on Tuesday morning, Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi stressed the need for paving the way for boosting non-oil exports and said, "The approach of different economic organs, especially sectors active in the production of food and medicine, should change from import-centred to domestic production of goods and the expansion of non-oil exports".
In this meeting, trade and foreign exchange policies related to export development and import management were reviewed, and the Ministries of Industry, Mines and Trade, and Economic Affairs and Finance were instructed to establish national determination and coordination to remove barriers to production and support domestic production.
It was also decided to review import policies in order to prevent the uncontrolled import of goods that have similar domestic equivalents.
