Speaking on Thursday in the 70th move of 'Prudence and Hope for Surge in Production' campaign and in the inauguration ceremony of national projects of the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad, Dr Hassan Rouhani referred to the inauguration of projects worth more than 7.5 trillion tomans with employment opportunities for 16,000 people, and said, "Today, the drainage project was inaugurated for 20,000 hectares of agricultural lands in Golestan province, which will increase the production of agricultural products and prevent damage caused by floods, and we will continue the path of land restoration".

Commemorating the late Imam Khomeini (RA), the President said, "Since 1989, when Imam Khomeini passed away, the love of the people for this great man is increasing every day. The late Imam had a special way of governing the country and was a high-ranking official who rarely gave orders, but his scientific and religious thought was regularly disseminated to the people".

Dr Rouhani pointed out, "It was the Imam's new and special ideas that opened a new path for the people. Before giving orders, he created belief by expressing thought, and this belief led to action, so if we can create belief and faith among the people, then the people will enter the scene of action with all their might".

The President added, "The affairs of the country, including economy and agriculture, will not progress with orders and we need research and knowledge-based activities. As today, with the Internet of Things, the agricultural sector is connected to the field of communication technologies and thus the conditions of various agricultural and livestock sectors can be observed well and in a timely manner".

Dr Rouhani said, "Today, everything should be based on science and knowledge, because science and knowledge make plans and beliefs, and in this case, things are done with more power and love".

Emphasising that no one and no power can oppose thought, Dr Rouhani said, "June 5 showed that weapons and force are not victorious against the thought and the people who believed in the thought and movement of the late Imam resisted bullets and imprisonment and led the movement to victory".

The President stated, "June 5 showed that guns, prison and pressure can never be a way out and block the path of reason and wisdom".

In another part of his speech, Dr Rouhani stated that the soil and water sector was one of the issues that was seriously emphasised by the government in the 11th and 12th governments, and said, "Soil is one of the great divine blessings and if we do not protect it properly, it cannot benefit us properly, so drainage schemes are to turn saline land into sweet land and increase its productivity".

The President said, "Regarding land restoration, great measures have been taken in the 11th and 12th governments, and we have restored about 600,000 hectares of land in different parts of the country, and we hope that another 30,000 hectares of drainage will be completed by the end of the government's term of office".

Dr Rouhani added, "In the water sector, we have done great work throughout the country and transferred water from the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf to desert areas of the country, including Kerman, Yazd, Ardakan, and then to the provinces of Khorasan Razavi, South Khorasan and Sistan and Balochistan".

Referring to the projects inaugurated in the greenhouse sector, the President said, "Today, it is necessary to pay attention to the development of greenhouses due to water shortages, and in this regard, great measures have been taken and greenhouses have increased from 8,000 hectares to 23,000 hectares".

Dr Rouhani also stressed the need to pay attention to fisheries and aquaculture and said, "In the fisheries sector, we are witnessing a growth of 38% from 885 thousand tons in 2013 to 1,222,000 tons".

The President added, "Per capita consumption of white meat and seafood in Iran has increased compared to the beginning of the revolution and according to statistics, it has reached 13kg from 1kg and we must continue to develop this sector so that it can be available to the people at a reasonable price".

Stating that the agricultural sector, like other sectors, is on the path of surge in production, the President said, "In this regard, we should not pay attention to false propaganda that make the enemy happy".
