President in a meeting with Kuwaiti Emir’s special envoy:

Iran’s policy to develop ties with Muslim, neighbouring countries/Dialogue the main solution to regional issues/Conveying Kuwaiti Emir’s message of condolence

“The Islamic Republic of Iran’s policy is to further develop friendly and brotherly ties with neighbouring and Muslim countries based on mutual respect, being neighbours and Islamic brotherhood,” said President Rouhani in a meeting with the special envoy of the Emir of Kuwait and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait, Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah.

During the meeting, which was held on Wednesday, President said: “Despite being under attack by the enemies after the Islamic Revolution, the Islamic Republic of Iran has never invaded any country and has proved its role as the most important barrier against aggression and terrorism in the country”.

“There is no doubt that development of the peoples of the region will be beneficial to the entire world’s stability and security,” he added, saying that the stability and security of the critical region of Middle East is only possible through dialogue, friendship and cooperation among countries of the region, especially neighbouring countries.

Referring to Iran’s commitment and efforts in helping the nations and the states of the region in their fight against terrorism, Dr Rouhani added: “Terrorism is a great threat to the region and we can resist against it through unity, integrity and helping each other”.

He continued: “The Islamic Republic of Iran has used all its might to defend the security and stability of the region and support its neighbouring countries”.

“Political, economic and cultural ties between Iran and Kuwait should be increased to a favourable level with regard to potentials and wishes of the two nations,” the President added.

Dr Rouhani added: “The Islamic Republic of Iran has been supporting any action aimed at developing stability and security in the region and will continue to do so”.

At the same meeting, the special envoy of the Emir of Kuwait and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait, Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah conveyed the message of the Emir of Kuwait and said: “The Emir, government and the people of Kuwait have a lot of respect for the people and the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the country’s effective role in the region”.

He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s efforts for developing cooperation and relations among countries of the region, especially its neighbours is praiseworthy, saying: “An integrated effort should be established among countries of the region in combatting extremist terrorists groups”.
