President in a meeting with Speaker of the lower house of the Parliament of Malaysia:

Iran, Malaysia determined to deepen ties, develop coop./We welcome promotion of ties between the two parliaments

The governments of Iran and Malaysia are determined to have closer ties and further develop cooperation and the capacities for this development should be tapped, said President Rouhani in a meeting with the Speaker of the lower house of the Parliament of Malaysia, Pandikar Amin.

In the meeting that was held on Saturday in Kuala Lumpur, Dr Rouhani said: “Tehran and Kuala Lupmur have decided to restore their relations to pre-sanctions era at the first stage, and then increase cooperation to two times and parliamentary cooperation accelerates the process”.

“Development of economic, cultural, scientific and parliamentary relations is beneficial to both Iranian and Malaysian nations, as well as the region,” he continued.

Dr Rouhani referred to regional and Islamic community issues and added: “Our religious, moral and human responsibilities to promote unity in the Islamic community in the current conditions are enormous and Iran and Malaysia, as two major countries of the Islamic community, can cooperate more in resolving Muslims’ problems”.

“To strengthen stability and security in countries, there is no way other than promoting tolerance and Islam is based on increasing commonalities and avoiding division,” he continued.

In the same meeting, the Speaker of the lower house of the Parliament of Malaysia, Pandikar Amin said that Malaysia’s parliament supports development of ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran in all fields.

 He added: “There is no obstacle on the way of development of Tehran-Kuala Lumpur ties and banking relations between the two countries can facilitate and accelerate this process”.
