Speaking with the President of France Emmanuel Macron on Thursday by telephone, Dr Hassan Rouhani described France’s attempts to keep the nuclear deal as positive and said: “Europe’s proposed package on continuation of cooperation in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) does not cover all our demands and we hope that the process of negotiation of foreign ministers of the 5 European countries, which will be held tomorrow in Vienna, can meet Iran’s demands for continuation of cooperation under the deal”.

He also went on to refer to economic activities and banking relations and the problems arisen for some European countries’ cooperation in projects in Iran because of US’ unilateral withdrawal from the JCPOA and said: “We expect a clear operational programme with a specific timetable to compensate for US’ withdrawal from the nuclear deal”.

At the same phone call, President of France Emmanuel Macron voiced France’s commitment to its obligations under the JCPOA and emphasised the importance of efforts to continue cooperation and dialogue for survival of the deal”.

Europe will continue its attempts to keep the deal, he said, adding: “The meeting of foreign ministers of 5 countries in Vienna can create a good balance in political and economic issues for continuation of cooperation”.
