Upon arrival at the tomb, Dr Rouhani was welcomed by Ayatollah Mohammadi Reyshahri, the Trustee of the tomb.
At the ceremony, Dr Rouhani said: “Ashura is a very important day in the history and culture of Islam and the destiny of Muslims. Iranian people have always loved the prophets and the Ahlul-Bayt (AS) and have paid tribute to them in Muharram month, especially the day of Ashura”.
“Without a doubt, respect in the world and prosperity in the afterworld is indebted to following the path and culture of Imam Hussein (AS),” he added.
Referring to saddening situation of people in Yemen, Syria and Iraq, he continued: “I hope in these precious days, the people of Yemen, who are under brutal bombing of aggressors, and the people of Syria and Iraq, who are facing savage attacks by the terrorists, be freed of aggressors and terrorists with God’s help”.
