President calls for boosting relations with Russia

President Hassan Rouhani here Saturday in a meeting with the visiting Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin stressed for expanding relations with Russia in various fields.

President Rouhani said that two countries of Russia and Iran have common interests and goals at the international level.
Commenting on the ongoing talks between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany in the Swiss city of Geneva, Dr.Rouhani said his “administration has plans to resolve issues within the framework of regulations.”
“It is obvious and certain … that the Islamic Republic of Iran does not seek and will not go after weapons of mass destruction,” he added.
President also said that Iran and Russia enjoy common interests and objectives both in the region and the world, calling for the further development of friendly ties between the two countries. He stressed that Tehran favors “long-term” and “all-out” relations with Moscow.
Rogozin, for his part, said that Russia is keen to develop and deepen relations with Iran in different sectors.
He wished success for the ongoing nuclear talks in Geneva and said Moscow wants to see Tehran’s nuclear case back on the normal track.
