President in the ceremony for praising top professors and students across country:

The condition for real development is to attach knowledge to ability/ We deeply believe that universities are the government's think tank/ Weakness in explaining progress is one of the problems country faces today

The President described problem-orientedness in universities as a prelude to the country's way out of its problems and added, "We deeply believe that universities are the think tank of the government and we have always emphasised on using the capacity of universities to advance the country’s affairs”.

Speaking before noon on Monday in a ceremony held for praising top professors and students across the country, Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi said, "We thank God that we are under the guidance of the science-loving leader, who has always encouraged the country's intellectuals and elites, and the progress we have seen in these years is the result of his support and encouragement”.
Stating that professors and students have taken great steps in the field of science development, the President added, "We still need effective steps in 1- the field of research, 2- the field of education and training, and 3- scientific services”.
Dr Raisi described development and progress to be one of the country's needs today and added, "Today, the government's duty is to pursue the important issue of progress along with the implementation of justice, and the priority we have defined for the government in this regard is to create transformation”.
He added, "If development and transformation in the country are based on science and knowledge, and we attach knowledge to ability, real transformation and development will happen”.
Ayatollah Raisi pointed out that we have a duty to advance the work in the country based on knowledge, and added, "We are happy that the universities of the country have reached this inevitable necessity that they should include science in all the issues of the country”.
Dr Raisi further described problem-orientedness in universities as a prelude to overcoming the country's problems and added, "We deeply believe that universities are the think tank of the government and we have always emphasised on using the capacity of universities to advance the affairs of the country”.
Ayatollah Raisi further considered the 110 martyrs of the University of Science and Technology as one of the great honours of this university and stated, "Today, our martyrs are real examples of intellectuals in the country who played a role by knowing the society and its requirements”.
The president stated that today our professors and students should also move in the direction of recognising the needs of the society and playing a role in solving them, adding, "The secret of the success of our great scientists is that they found a place in our hearts and Imam Khomeini (RA) was the most prominent scientist of our time”.
Dr Raisi further added, "Today there are many scientists in the world whose services and works are different, and the result of their science has led to domination, the destruction of human beings, and obstructing the road to the advancement of human beings”.
Dr Raisi said that the cost of the university as an investment for the country and said, "The government is proud that most of the members of the government are members of the academic faculty of the university, and this can help us pay more specialised attention to the country's issues".
Ayatollah Raisi pointed out that we have made the most progress in all the sectors that were sanctioned, and added, "Today, nuclear weapons have no place in our defence doctrine and we have announced this many times, but we will definitely not hesitate to use nuclear technology and we will go down this path”.
The President further said, "We have neither the right to go back nor the right to stop, we have only one way and that is progress in all fields”.
Ayatollah Raisi also mentioned the issue of elite migration and added, "We must inject hope in the society through action and implementation so that the issue of elite migration is reversed and all those who migrated due to the lack of facilities and conditions realise the growth and progress the country has provided for them”.
The president described the weakness in explaining the progress as one of the problems facing the country today and said, "You professors have the duty to explain the capacities and also the progress achieved in the country”.
Also, on the sidelines of this ceremony, with the presence of Dr Raisi, the Library, Document Centre and Imam Reza (AS) Conference Hall of University of Science and Technology were inaugurated.
In this ceremony, with the presence of the president, the ministers of Health and Medical Education, Science, Research and Technology, Communication and Information Technology, and the Head of the Office of the Supreme Leader in universities, 36 top professors and 18 students were praised.
