Speaking on Sunday in the cabinet meeting, Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi referred to the election of the new governor generals of East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan, and Khorasan Razavi and said, "Governor generals should develop a comprehensive plan to create hope in the people".
Emphasising the need to take advantage of the border and capacity of the provinces of Khorasan Razavi, West Azerbaijan and East Azerbaijan to develop the province and expand cooperation and interaction with neighbours, Dr Raisi said, "Khorasan Razavi, in addition to being in the border region, is a spiritual base and centre of attention of followers of Imams, which has over 30 million pilgrims a year".
Ayatollah Raisi also added, "The performance of the governor generals, as high representatives of the government in the provinces, should be such that the people feel that the situation has changed compared to before and that serious steps have been taken towards the development of the province".
The President continued his speech at the government meeting, referring to the issue of drought and emphasising the need to convene a meeting of the Supreme Council of Water as soon as possible, saying, "Although the problem of water shortage is serious, part of the problem can be solved by equitable management and distribution of water resources".
Referring to the Sight Day, Ayatollah Raisi called on government officials to prioritise supporting the blind, and in particular helping to solve their livelihood problems and provide the equipment needed by them, including their educational equipment".
