President had an interview with the United States’ NBC and stressed that he had no plans to meet with Trump, and basically, the US President has not created conditions for such a meeting to take place.

"There is no such program for a meeting," Rouhani said in an exclusive interview with "NBC Nightly News" anchor Lester Holt.

He also said, “Naturally, if someone is keen on having a meeting and holding dialogue and creating progress in relationships, that person would not use the tool of sanctions and threats to bear all of its power against another government and nation. That means that the necessary willpower is absent in order to resolve outstanding issues”.

As a precondition for any dialogue, Rouhani said the US would need to repair the damage done by withdrawing from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), "That bridge must be rebuilt to let the two countries plan for their future," he said.

“The US withdrew from the nuclear deal in violation of international laws and violated Resolution 2231 of the Security Council, but until such time that our interests are guaranteed with the five remaining countries, we will remain within the JCPOA," Rouhani said

Stating, “A one-sided agreement would be meaningless,” the President continued saying: “Sanctions from one side put pressure on the Iranian people, but on the other hand, it has created better conditions for our export and national production”.

Dr Rouhani continued, “Our European partners and US allies in Europe have clearly stated that they disagree with what Trump is doing and that they want to stay in the JCPOA, repeatedly encouraging us to stay in the deal”.

On the coming US sanctions, he also said, “The United States is not capable of bringing our oil exports to zero. It is a threat that is empty of credibility. Perhaps on this path, we will sustain certain pressures but certainly the United States will not reach its objective".

"If the United States wishes to use force in order to sanction the petroleum industry of Iran, it will certainly see the appropriate response. We do have the power to secure our own waterways and keep our waterways free," he said.

Asked if he was warning President Trump, Dr Rouhani said, "This is not a warning. This is a reality. If the Persian Gulf waterway is to remain free and secure, it must remain so for everyone."

Stating that despite US saying in words that it is against terrorism, this is not the case in action, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran said, “There are states in our region that are supporting terrorism. Terrorists that are working against the Iranian nation, or those who are working against the people of Iraq, Syria, Yemen and other countries have very close relations with the United States”.

“If we consider terrorism as a threat to stability and world peace –which truly is, then everyone should fight the terrorists properly, the United States calls those who fight ISIS a terrorist, whether in Iraq or in Syria. If ISIS is a terrorist group, so, those who fight ISIS are not terrorists,” continued the President.

"Yesterday, one of the American officials clearly and openly supported these terrorists, and said that in Ahvaz if something took place, Iran must not seek the roots of that terrorist attack in other countries. If this is indeed so, if this train of thought makes sense, how do we apply the same logic to the terrorist attacks of September 11th?"

“Our presence in Syria has only to do with the will of the Syrian government,” Rouhani said, adding, “Whenever terrorists are defeated in Syria and terrorism ceases to exist in Syria, and the government of Syria has no need for us, then at that point our continued presence in Syria will not have any meaning or serve any purpose”.
