President in a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart:

Great development made in Tehran-Baku ties/Stressing faster implementation of bilateral agreements, projects

President emphasised that the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to establish closer relations with the Republic of Azerbaijan, adding: “Today, because of the will that exists in both sides, we are witnessing a great development in Tehran-Baku relations”.

President Hassan Rouhani met with President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and said: “The Islamic Republic of Iran considers Azerbaijan beyond neighbourly relations as a deep brotherly bond and seeks ways of further developing relations”.

Stressing that the enemies of the two nations are angry about the good relations between the two countries, saying: “Tehran and Baku will increase the level of cooperation and not let enemies do a little damage to these relations”.

Dr Rouhani also stressed faster implementation of agreements and said: “The two countries have ample potentials to deepen relations and taking advantage of these potentials is beneficial for both nations”.

At the same meeting, President Ilham Aliyev of the Republic of Azerbaijan emphasised that his country was seeking ways of developing relations with Tehran and said: “During the past 5 years, the two countries have taken advantage of the mutual trust and the level of cooperation is not comparable to the past”.

“The Republic of Azerbaijan has repeatedly condemned US sanctions against Iran and our stance in relations with Iran is based on brotherhood and international laws”.
