Deepening friendly ties with Turkey, Iran’s regional policy/We should develop banking relations to reach $30-billion economic cooperation/Continuing fight against terrorism, preventing separatist actions essential

President described development of friendly relations with neighbouring countries, especially Turkey, as a key foreign and regional policy for the Islamic Republic of Iran, adding that Tehran-Ankara relations must be developed more than before.

In a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Mevlut Cavushoglu on Wednesday, President Hassan Rouhani said: “Today, the two governments are determined to develop and deepen Tehran-Ankara relations in all fields of mutual interest”.

Stressing the importance of achieving the 30-billion-dollar goal in business and trade relations between the two countries, the President also said: “The development of banking relations between the two countries, decision to use the national currencies of the two countries in business transactions and attempting to implement the agreements in this regard and boost Tehran-Ankara economic relations”.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to cement ties with Turkey in the energy sector and welcomes Turkish investors and businesspeople’s participation in various oil and gas projects in Iran,” he continued.

He also referred to the summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) members countries about the Holy Quds in Istanbul, describing it effective in the fight against conspiracies of the enemies.

On Sochi summit, Dr Rouhani said: “Fortunately, today the tripartite relations between Iran, Turkey and Russia is very important and effective in regional relation, while in the current conditions, there is a need to have more negotiation and cooperation”.

He then stressed the need to continue the fight against terrorism and preventing separatist actions in the region, stating: “Unfortunately, today some countries are after changing geographical boundaries in the region, and after failing in northern Iraq, they have turned towards northern Syrian”.

“We believe that in the future, the unity of Syria must be protected and terrorism must be eradicated from this country to lay the ground for more peace in the country, by which the countries of the region can feel more secure. In helping this happen, cooperation between Iran, Turkey and Russia is very important,” he continued.

He also went on to say: “We are ready to promote our cooperation with Turkey in resolving the problems of the region and eliminate concerns in this regard”.

Stressing that everyone must do their utmost to stop the bloodshed in the region, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran also said: “Protecting the independence of countries and no changes in geographical boundaries in the region increases stability in the region”.

Certainly, the US and the Zionist Regime never want the problems of the region to be resolved, said Rouhani adding that closer Tehran-Ankara relations can contribute to resolving the problems, especially in Syria.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Mevlut Cavushoglu also described relations between the two countries positive and stressed that business cooperation and banking relations should be developed, adding: “Today, we should boost cooperation and negotiations to further boost Tehran-Ankara relations”.

“One of the main aims of the US is seeking by its new conspiracies in the region is to affect friendly, developing relations between Iran and Turkey and we must confront it by continuing our cooperation in resolving the issues of the region, especially in Syria,” he added.

He also went on to say: “Turkey’s military operation in northern Syria is temporary and merely aiming terrorist in that region”.
