President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here Friday that Iran is strongly against terrorism in any part of the world.
"We strongly oppose any kind of terrorist operations anywhere on earth," said President.
He said Iran opposes terrorism out of its Islamic ideology which bans killing the innocent people and believes that dialogue and logic provide the best solution for all the problems gripping mankind, ethnic groups, societies and states.
He held the big powers directly or indirectly responsible for terrorism and said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran is basically against terrorist measures under any name, motivation and title.
We are the nation that has suffered greatly from terrorism." Criticizing western style of campaign against terrorism, President Ahmadinejad called for all-out campaign worldwide against the phenomenon.
"The powers using terrorism as a political tool and benefit from it can not be successful in the campaign. Independent countries of the world such as Iran and Algeria as well as other independent states of the world should join hands and fight the crime," he announced.
He said that all Iran's nuclear activities have been in accordance with the international laws and regulations and it is firmly determined to continue the activities within the same framework.
"Whatever the Islamic Republic of Iran has done so far have been based on the international laws and regulations. We have had maximum level of cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency," said President Ahmadinejad in a briefing session with Algerian press prior to his Monday visit to Algeria.
He said Iran wants nothing beyond its legal rights.
"That's the reason we have been firm in our drive and attained the technology for fuel production on industrial scale. We are willing to continue our activities within framework of the international regulations. This way, Iran has today become a peaceful nuclear state," he added.
President Friday called the US weapon deal an old trick to create division in the region.
"This is not the first time the US sells weapons to the region; they in the past 20 years have sold over 400 billion worth of weapons to the region. The US is trying its best to create division in the region so to impose its policies to the Middle East," said president.
He went on to say that the Islamic Republic of Iran was not worried about this package, because it had brotherly relations with the region.
He also referred to the efforts of the US for fixating the Zionist regime in the region and said, "They are trying to introduce the region's enemy as a friend and the region's true friend as an enemy." "My only advice to our regional brothers is that, do not waste your national resources and capitals on such things; apply and use them for your country's progress and development."
Regarding his trip to Algeria, he explained that Iran and Algeria shared many common points and approaches towards international issues and events.
He said that while in Algeria he would raise in discussions with the Algerian officials such topics as mutual energy cooperation as well as Muslim world, regional and global problems.
He added that Iran is ready to share experience with Algeria in oil exploitation, production and refining as well as in petrochemical production.
Ahmadinejad is to visit Algeria on Monday at the head of a high ranking delegation at the invitation of his Algerian counterpart, Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
He said that Iran considers it as its humanitarian duty to contribute to Iraq's security, national unity and independence.
"We should help restore security and maintain unity, cohesion and independence in Iraq out of our ideological beliefs and humanitarian duty," said president .
President voiced concern over growing unrest, broad assassinations and violation of civil rights in Iraq and held the occupiers responsible for the chaos.
"If the occupiers officially recognize rights of the Iraqi nation and act on the law, security would return back to Iraq. Iraqi government, parliament and Constitution should be officially recognized. Only under these conditions, problems of the country would be settled."
Elsewhere in the press conference, President Ahmadinejad outlined Iran's policy on Israel and Palestine and said, "We support Palestine and the oppressed. We support the Palestinian people as long as there are the oppressed and as long as tyranny and tyrants exist in the land."
Asked about the Iran-China-Russia close cooperation and unity, President Ahmadinejad said, "We are interested in having strong relations with all countries. The core of our policy is having good ties with all and that the relations serve peace and security of all people worldwide."
He blamed "a few selfish states" for insecurity worldwide and said conditions would improve if the states try to improve themselves.
Ahmadinejad on Friday lashed out at the west's human rights allegations, raised against Iran, and said the country is not the only target of the charges, rather they are used as a tool to pile up political pressure on the independent states.
"They are our enemy. They usually raise such claims. Of course such a double-standard approach is not Iran specific. Rather, it is a tool that is used to build up political pressure on the independent states," President Ahmadinejad told.
As examples of such states that are subject to pressure and aggression, the president referred to certain popular and democratic South American states.
He then highlighted Europe's human rights violation records:
"Secret jails have been built in Europe -- an act which is against human rights standards and deplorable."
The president said that in Europe, scientists can not comment freely on some historical issues. "There have even been cases of jail terms when scientists and authors try to write books on the issues," he added.
He also criticized human rights violations in the Palestinian occupied territories and said, "A handful of Zionists have been rounded up from four corners of the world (and brought into the occupied territories). Palestinian people have been pulled out of their land (instead). They (the Zionists) kill people of the country (Palestinians) every day. They (the Zionists) even assassinate some individuals on prior notice. They (the Zionists) are then given peace and human rights prizes (for all the merciless acts). Based on their standards, the crimes the Zionist Regime has been committing in Palestine are in accordance with human rights."
He said that in the Islamic Republic of Iran people decide their fate.
"Those are people who decide the government. There is almost absolute freedom in Iran, while west repeatedly accuses it of violating human rights," he regretted.
President Ahmadinejad said people are not secure in the US.
"The US statesmen eavesdrop their citizens' calls. In the UK, people's daily life is monitored by government's cameras. People are not in peace. Despite all these, in their opinion, human rights are observed there."
He said Iranian people do not recognize western style of human rights, believing that the so-called "human rights" are not consistent with a fully political standard and are biased.
In Iran, he added, serving masses is a priority and due to the same reason, nobody can dare denying public rights.
