President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday paid an unannounced visit to a deprived quarter in west of Gorgan, Golestan province.

Ahmadinejad spent about half an hour to get informed of problems and shortages in Islamabad district in Golestan province.
The president also held sincere talks with residents of the quarter and listened to their demand from the government and the local officials.
The deprived people referred to shortages such as lack of appropriate drinking water and access roads, health services, and danger of dilapidated buildings.
Ahmadinejad issued a directive for studying and improving the situation in the deprived quarter of Gorgan.
He told the people, "We all should cooperate hand in hand to improve the situation of the quarter."
Golestan governor general and Gorgan mayor, for their parts, explained the problems in Islamabad district.
