President before leaving Zahedan for Pakistan:

Good relations with neighbours very important for Iran/2030 outlook to be discussed in ECO Summit/Meeting with high-ranking officials attending in ECO Summit

President Rouhani left Zahedan for Pakistan's capital city, Islamabad on Tuesday, seen off by the Governor General of Sistan and Baluchistan and the Supreme Leader's Representative in the province.

President said at the airport: "The Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) Summit will be held on Wednesday in Islamabad, in which we will discuss ways of developing the organisation and bolstering economic ties, as well as establishing security and stability in the region".

He added: "ECO is very important for Iran and it is the only key regional organisation that Iran is a member and founder to".

"The secretariat of the organisation is located in Tehran and today, Iran and other founders of it have a great responsibility for developing it," Dr Rouhani continued.

He added: "At ECO Summit, which is going to be held in Islamabad tomorrow, the planning and the outlook of year 2030 will be discussed and a number of bilateral meetings will be held with high-ranking officials attending the summit".

Stating the for the country's development we need to interact with other countries, especially neighbouring countries, he said: "Relations with neighbours is very important for Iran. Most of the ECO members are Iran's neighbours and fostering ties between us is very important for the region".

"Today, the condition of the region is very sensitive and, unfortunately in recent years, it has faced several issues, such as terrorism. Therefore, the members will discuss and share views on security and regional issues along with economic ones," he said.

The President added: "We hope that through cooperating with all countries of the region, security is restored to our dear Islamic region and we witness more prosperity and development in it".
