President in a meeting with the Speaker of the Council of the Republic of Belarus:

Iran welcomes deepening ties with Belarus, Eurasia/Stressing the need to familiarise private sectors with cooperation opportunities, potentials

Stressing that the Islamic Republic of Iran and Belarus have always had close political stances and international cooperation with each other, President Rouhani said: “Tehran welcomes deepening relations with Belarus and Eurasian countries”.

In a meeting with the Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, Mikhail Myasnikovich on Monday, President Rouhani referred to good relations between the two countries and added: “Developing and deepening bilateral ties is beneficial to both governments and nations”.

On the need to tap the opportunities and potentials of the two countries in various fields of economy, technology and science, he said: “We should make more attempts to encourage and familiarise the private sectors, organisations and institutions of the two countries with each other”.

He went on to mention Iran’s major plans to develop South-North transit corridor, adding: “Belarus and Iran can function as a bridge to link the Persian Gulf to the European Union in addition to cooperating with each other”.

At the meeting, the Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, Mikhail Myasnikovich also referred to Belarus’s willingness to develop ties with Iran in political and economic fields.

He added: “With anti-Iran sanctions being lifted, it is time to deepen and cement economic relations between the two countries”.

The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Belarus are determined to promote relations in the fields of science and technology, economy, tourism, interprovincial and interparliamentary ties, he said.

He went on to congratulate the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution to the Iranian nation and government, adding: “The President of Belarus is planning an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran with the aim of deepening bilateral ties”.
