Iran attaches great weight to ties with Central Asian countries/Iran, Kyrgyzstan agree on 10-year plan to develop inclusive ties/Both presidents agree on facilitating visa issuance, direct Tehran-Bishkek flight

Presidents of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Kyrgyzstan stressed tapping all potentials and opportunities to develop inclusive ties and cooperation by implementing the 10-year cooperation plan.

Speaking at the meeting of high-ranking delegations of Iran and Kyrgyzstan in Bishkek, Dr Rouhani said: “The Islamic Republic of Iran attaches great weight to ties with Central Asian countries. Iran was one of the first countries that recognised Kyrgyzstan’s independence and has had friendly and developing ties with this country”.

Stating that the Islamic Republic of Iran is willing to develop Tehran-Bishkek ties in all fields, he said: “Today, both countries have decided to remove all obstacles on the path of developing ties and cooperation and facilitate the process”.

On the necessity of boosting banking relations between the two countries, Dr Rouhani continued: “Without a doubt, any kind of development in investment and promotion of business ties relies on good banking relations”.

He also stressed facilitating visa issuance for merchants, traders and citizens of the two countries, adding: “Iran is determined to develop ties with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and engage in preferential commerce with its member countries”.

“Iranian private sector and powerful companies are ready to cooperate in construction of water hydropower plants, dams, pharmacy, roads and other technical-engineering services in Kyrgyzstan,” he continued.

Referring to Iran’s policy to develop transit ties through north-south corridor, President Rouhani welcomed Kyrgyz president’s proposal to construct a new railway connecting China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Iran.

He added: “The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to further deepen its transit ties within the framework of south-north corridor”.

On all-out combat against terrorism and extremism in the region, he said: “We are against any kind of extremism and believe that the real Islam that we should promote is the one introduced by the merciful and kind Prophet of Islam”.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to provide friend countries, especially Kyrgyzstan, with its experience in fighting terrorism in the region,” Dr Rouhani went on saying.

Furthermore, presidents of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Kyrgyzstan also announced the Iran and Kyrgyzstan had agreed on 10-year plan to develop inclusive ties.

At the same meeting the President of Kyrgyzstan, Almazbek Atambayev also referred to historical friendship between the two countries and said: “Bishkek-Tehran relations should quickly be developed through facilities in visa and trade”.

He continued: “We attach great weight to JCPOA’s sustainability and lift of sanctions against Iran. Implementation of JCPOA and lift of sanctions has significantly contributed to development of ties and economic cooperation in the region and has created good visions”.

“Iran’s presence contributes to promotion of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and supports Iran’s membership in the union,” he added.

The President of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan also went on to say: “We welcome Iranian companies working in our country”.
