President at the meeting of high-ranking delegations of Iran and Kazakhstan:

Good Tehran-Astana ties should continue by facilitating trade, banking relations, grating visa/Both presidents agree to back private sector ties

President Rouhani underscored that all existing opportunities and potentials should be used for developing Tehran-Astana ties.

Speaking at the meeting of high-ranking delegations of Iran and Kazakhstan on Thursday, Dr Rouhani congratulated the 25th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan and said: “The Islamic Republic of Iran immediately recognised Kazakhstan’s independence and welcomes continuation, development and strengthening of ties in all fields and friendly cooperation with the friend and neighbouring country”.

He also described Iran-Kazakhstan ties as historical and said: “We are determined to develop ties with Kazakhstan in all fields of mutual interest”.

“Last session of joint commission of the two countries, which was held in Tehran, has contributed to positive, great steps in developing relations and this path should continue by facilitating trade, banking relations, and grating visas,” he continued.

The President also referred to Kazakhstan’s positive role in Iran’s nuclear negotiations and deal, and said: “Kazakhstan and Iran have always been friends and supported each other in international communities and we should attempt to improve the level of regional and international cooperation”.

Speaking about the north-south road and railroad corridor, transit cooperation between the two countries and connecting Kazakhstan’s railroad to Iran, Dr Rouhani also said that developing relations and regional ties is very important and they should continue.

He also said that Iranian private sector is willing to work in Kazakhstan in various fields such as energy, agriculture, road construction and technical-engineering services.

At the same meeting, the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev said: “We consider Iran the most important partner in the Islamic World”.

He added: “We are determined to deepen economic, transit, and tourism ties”.

President Nazarbayev also said that he supported establishing direct Tehran-Astana flight to develop tourism ties with Iran.
