President in a meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart:

Iran, Bulgaria private sectors should be supported for more cooperation/Tehran welcomes joint companies

Referring to historical friendship and commonalities between the two Iranian and Bulgarian nations, President Rouhani said: “We should take advantage of this friendship to further develop Tehran-Sofia ties”.

“With programs and regional cooperation, Iran’s rail network will stretch from East Asia to Georgian ports, and then to Bulgaria through the Black Sea,” said President in the meeting that was held on Wednesday local time on the sidelines of the 71st UN General Assembly in New York.

Stating that Iran attached great weight to trade routes between the region and the European Union, he said: “Private sectors should become acquainted with each other’s capacities and be encouraged to bolster cooperation”.

Dr Rouhani then went on mentioning the two countries’ advancements in scientific and technological fields and added: “In fields such as medicine, we welcome establishment of joint companies and exporting their products to regional markets”.

At the meeting, President of Bulgaria said: “Sofia seeks to deepen and cement ties with Tehran”.

“Bulgaria is ready to facilitate Iran’s trade with Europe and also invest in production of pharmaceutical equipment,” added Rosen Plevneliev.
