JCPOA another opportunity for Italy to become Iran’s 1st European partner/Both sides should be committed to JCPOA

Italy has the JCPOA opportunity to once more become Iran’s first trade partner in Europe, said President Rouhani in a meeting with the Prime Minister of Italy Matteo Renzi in New York.

In the meeting that was held on Tuesday afternoon local time in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly at United Nations headquarters in New York, Dr Rouhani said: “The latest bilateral visits have been a turning point in mutual relations and indicate that the two nations and governments are determined to develop and cement ties”.

Stressing cooperation in economic, scientific and political fields, as well as the private sectors of both countries, he added: “Interested private companies of both parties should be supported and encouraged by the two governments in establishing business relations”.

On JCPOA, he said that the two parties of the agreement are committed to lay the ground for Iran’s economic activities and added: “The two sides should be committed to JCPOA’s strength which can be a base for increasing peace and stability in the region”.

“Our nations and companies should benefit from JCPOA,” said Rouhani adding that European leaders should ensure banks and insurance companies on financial cooperation”.

 At the meeting, the Prime Minister of Italy stressed that Rome is excited to develop ties with Tehran in all fields, adding: “We are ready for any move towards cementing economic ties”.

“Italy’s state insurance of Sace is ready to provide the needed guarantees,” Prime Minister Renzi continued, mentioning an upcoming visit by a high-ranking Italian delegation to Tehran.

Bolstering investors’ confidence to cooperate with Iran is vital for Italy, said Renzi, adding that Italy will do whatever it can with regard to JCPOA and reaffirming its commitment to it.
