President in a meeting with Speaker of the Council of the Nation of Algeria:

Islamic, revolutionary countries have a key role in maintaining security, stability in Northern Africa, ME

Islamic and revolutionary countries, especially Iran and Algeria have a heavy duty in the current conditions of Northern Africa and the Middle East to bring back brotherhood and ensure security for Muslims, said President Rouhani in a meeting with the Speaker of the Council of the Nation of Algeria.

In the meeting that was held on the sidelines of the 17th NAM Summit in Margarita Island, Venezuela, Dr Rouhani said: “The Algerian Revolution and the Islamic Revolution of Iran are two major and effective revolutions in the region”.

On ample opportunities to develop ties between the two countries, he added: “We should tap these opportunities to further develop economic and political ties, as well as regional stability”.

President Rouhani also stressed development of relations in all fields, especially banking, industry, science and tourism, as well as private sectors and parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

Referring to the forthcoming OPEC Summit which is going to be held in Algeria, Dr Rouhani also stressed stabilisation of the oil market and prices, expressing hope that great steps be taken in this regard.

Speaker of the Council of the Nation of Algeria Abdelkader Bensalah also said that his country is determined to develop ties with Iran, adding: “The two great Iranian and Algerian nations seek deepening and bolstering these relations”.

On insecurity in Northern Africa and the Middle East, he said: “Regional issues should be resolved by the countries of the same region, without foreigner interventions”.
