President in a phone conversation with Qatari Emir:

Regional issues be resolved by region countries, only through political ways

“Issues of the region should be settled by the countries of the region and only through political negotiation, conversation and mutual understanding,” said President Rouhani in a telephone conversation with the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani.

During the telephone call that was initiated by the Qatari Emir Dr Rouhani congratulated him on Eid al-Adha and said: “The Islamic Republic of Iran will spare no effort to create and bolster this process and that everyone should work in doing so.”

Highlighting the growing threat of extremism, violence and terrorism in the region, he also said: “Unfortunately, the region is not in good conditions and it is our duty to save Muslims from terrorism and create stability in the region to foster brotherhood among Muslims”.

Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani congratulated President Rouhani and the Iranian nation on Eid al-Adha and said: “Iran-Qatar ties are historical and amicable and we always welcome development of relations between the two countries in all fields and we seek special relations with Tehran”.

“We believe that these ties should be used to resolve complicated issued of the region. Iran has a special place and role in the region and continuing to play this role is beneficial to us as well,” he continued.

Sheikh Tamim also stressed that dialogue between Iran and countries located in the south of the Persian Gulf should be promoted and added: “This dialogue is very important in that issues should be resolved at the negotiation table, not by others”.

On combatting terrorism, he also added: “Without a doubt, fostering communication and cooperation among countries of the region can be beneficial to the people in the region who are in bad situations in combatting terrorism”.
