“People’s first demand is solving political and cultural issues, as well as economic ones,” added the president late on Sunday.

Dr Rouhani added: “One of the main goals of the nuclear negotiations was generating a positive momentum in economy”.

On government’s broad plans to decrease inflation, end stagnation and move towards prosperity, he said: “All branches should stand by each other to create economic prosperity and jobs for the youth”.

“Our political legitimacy comes from people’s votes and it is our duty to preserve country’s interests and meet people’s demands”.

On government’s efforts to reduce inflation rate, he also said: “Some believed that this was not possible but we could manage to reduce inflation rate to single digit in 1395 and we are trying to keep this trend going”.

He also said that fluctuations in oil prices is one of the major issues that the government is facing.

Warning about employment rate, Rouhani said: “If we do not create economic prosperity and jobs for the youth, especially for the educated ones, we will definitely face myriad social and economic issues”.

To create prosperity in the country, we need domestic and foreign investment, added Rouhani, saying: “We should provide business environments to attract investment”.

President Rouhani also mentioned that Iran’s current ranking in business environment has risen from 153 to 118 and added: “We still need to do a lot in this field”.

Referring to high interest rates of bank loans, he said: “One of the main steps in solving this issue is organising the banking system; the government’s economic headquarters has developed a plan in this regard that will be unveiled in coming days”.

He also mentioned the issue of unusual salaries and went on saying: “I consider what has been disseminated in the media and social networking in the last few days about unfair salaries good in general”.

“A report by a supervisory institution stipulates that based on previous regulations approved in 1390, a manager could receive up to $290,000 a month… but these regulations should be corrected today”.
