President at a meeting with Armenian FM:

Developing Tehran-Yerevan ties the two nations’ will/We are ready to provide Armenia with technical, engineering services

President Rouhani referred to extensive opportunities and capabilities of Iran and Armenia and stressed using the opportunities to develop and deepen Tehran-Yerevan ties in all fields of mutual interest

“Today in the post-sanctions era, there is a good opportunity for developing trade and economic ties between the two countries and we should use this opportunity to develop relations between the two countries in all fields,” said President Rouhani at a meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Eduard Nalbandyan.“To develop ties between Iran and Armenia in the field of transit and transportation of goods, there is a good opportunity, by using which we can connect the Black Sea to the Persian Gulf through Armenia and in doing so, we are ready to provide Armenia with technical and engineering services,” said Rouhani on Sunday.
Mentioning amicable ties between the two countries, he said: “Developing Tehran-Yerevan ties is the two nations’ will and the authorities of the two countries should make attempts in doing so”.
Iran and Armenia share views on regional and international issues, said Rouhani, adding: “The Islamic Republic of Iran has always sought security, stability and peace in the region and solving the disputes of the region peacefully and will spare no effort in helping the countries of the region”.
He also referred to unfavourable conditions of the region and said: “We should increase cooperation and expand friendships in order not to let small issues become new excuses for terrorist acts”.
At the same meeting Foreign Minister of Armenia Eduard Nalbandyan said: “Armenia has always wanted to develop and deepen relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran”.
Referring to joint projects with Iran in different fields such as infrastructures, energy and transportation and said: “Today after the nuclear agreement, there are good opportunities that we can use to cement ties between the two countries and promote peace and stability in the region”.
 
At the end of the meeting, a cooperation document regarding abolition of visas between the two countries was signed by Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Armenian counterpart.
