President at a meeting with Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi:

Seminaries, great Maraji spiritual and cultural assets of nation, gov’t/Explaining gov’t economic, political, cultural plans, achievements/Appreciating seminaries, great Maraji for support

“Seminaries have a significant role in mapping cultural strategies and keeping people at the scene,” said President Rouhani in a meeting with Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi.

At the meeting which took place on Friday, he also described seminaries, especially Qom Seminary and great Maraji as one of the the biggest supporters and spiritual and cultural assets for the nation and the government.

Dr Rouhani also explained the government’s plans and achievements in cultural, economic and political fields and appreciated seminaries, great Maraji and Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi for supporting the government during hard times.

“A good and growing development in scientific and cultural fields has been started in the country, especially in schools and universities and this development should be continued with more momentum,” continued the President.

Describing achievements of the government, he also said that tranquility in the economic market of the country and reduction of inflation rate and 1-percent growth in last year despite decline in oil prices were achievements of the government. He added: “The government is doing its utmost to achieve 5-percent growth in year 1395”.

He added: “The rate of employment witnessed an upward trend in year 1393 and this trend will continue with development and prosperity in the country”.

Dr Rouhani also expressed hope that Iran’s position in the region and the world further upgrade through supports by the seminaries.

During the same meeting, Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi also appreciated the government’s attempts for promotion of Islamic Iran and added: “The government has carried out efforts to improve the conditions in the country”.
