During the meeting of high-ranking delegations of Iran and Croatia;

President Rouhani: Iran ready to transfer technological, engineering experiences, services to Croatia/Combating terrorism should be actualised/Stressing the need for using capacities, opportunities to cement mutual, regional, int’l ties

“Croatia, the Balkans and South-eastern Europe are very important for the Islamic Republic of Iran and I hope that this trip makes a good start for further momentum in Tehran-Zagreb ties,” said President Rouhani on Wednesday during the meeting of high-ranking delegations of Iran and Croatia in Tehran.

Dr Rouhani also described Croatia as Iran’s friend in the EU and said: “Positive history of cooperation and Croatian companies’ activities in Iran will be a perfect base for further development of ties between the two countries”.

Referring to limitations made by the sanctions in the last several years, Dr Rouhani said: “Today there are good opportunities and conditions for investment in Iran”.

Underlining Iran’s capabilities in the field of technological and engineering services and investment capacities in technology, President Rouhani said: “Iran and Croatia should facilitate activities of the entrepreneurs and economic executives by facilitating rules and regulations in this regard”.

He also stressed development of relations in science, culture, universities and research centres in the field of modern technologies, biotechnology, nanotechnology, IT and tourism.

“Today terrorism is a great danger and issue for the world and we should stop it from spreading and confront the issue through finding its roots and economic and cultural factors,” continued Dr Rouhani.

He added: “Iran and Croatia can cooperate on UN resolution of WAVE”.

President Rouhani said that some western countries’, including US, interference is the root cause of most of the issues of the region and added: “It is regrettable that some countries are compromising peace, stability and security of the people in the region to advance their goals”.

Expressing that all divine religions promote kindness and peaceful coexistence, he said: “Promoting ties between religious officials of Iran and Croatia can help foster moderate thoughts and the kind Islam in the world”.

During the meeting, President of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović said: “JCPOA proved that big issues can be resolved through discussion”.

She also underscored his country’s willingness to cement ties with Iran and added: “We are determined to develop ties with Tehran”.

President Grabar-Kitarović also stressed that a joint commission on Iran-Croatia cooperation should be revived and activated”.
