President congratulates new IRIB head/Several agreements to be initialled between Iran and other countries

The cabinet authorised the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance to carry out negotiations and initial an agreement regarding mutual contribution in customs between the governments of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of South Korea, as well as the Russian Federation.

During the regular weekly cabinet meeting which was held late on Sunday, the Ministry of Roads and Urban Planning was also authorised to initial a shipping and maritime trade agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and People's Democratic Republic of Algeria.

Another bill approved by the Council of Ministers was the bill of convention in the field of mutual legal assistance, as well as civil and trade issues between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the People’s Republic of China.

The cabinet also approved other bills such as agreement for mutual encouragement and support of investment between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Singapore, an agreement on international transportation of people and goods through roads between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as an agreement on cooperation in veterinary and animal health between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

President Rouhani also congratulated Dr Abdolali Ali Asgari on his appointment as the new chief of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) and expressed hope that his responsible spirit help advance the country’s plans.

Dr Rouhani added: “We all have responsibilities for resolving the problems and realisation of the country’s progress and IRIB’s mission is to provide the ground for people’s more presence, cooperation and responsibility in all fields, especially economic issues”.

Dr Rouhani also said that bolstering national identity should be on IRIB’s agenda and added: “National media’s orientation should be fostering hope and mutual trust”.

During the same session, the Council of Ministers appointed Abdolnaser Hemmati as the new chairman of the Central Insurance Company.

The cabinet also approved paying facilities for modernisation and improvement of rural housing scheme during the current Iranian year of 1395.
