President in a meeting with Malaysian FM:

No obstacles for deepening Tehran-Kuala Lumpur ties/Muslim countries be united to fight terrorism

There are no obstacles on the way of deepening and developing ties between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Malaysia in all fields of mutual interest, said President Rouhani in a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia Anifah Aman.

In this meeting which was held late on Tuesday, Dr Rouhani referred to religious commonalities between the two nations and governments and said: “We always welcome development of ties and economic, scientific and cultural cooperation between the two countries”.

He also expressed hope that by the formation of a joint commission on cooperation between Iran and Malaysia to foster Tehran-Kuala Lumpur cooperation.

Stressing unity among Muslims, he also said: “Today, Muslim World is facing a lot of crises and big and effective Muslim countries should exercise empathy and solidarity and play their religious and humane role to end the hostilities, decrease the crises and eventually establish peace and stability in the Muslim World”.

“Unfortunately some terrorist groups have no affiliation to the real Islam and carry out their crimes under the disguise of Islam and Jihad and Islamic Countries should unite to combat this kind of terrorism,” added Rouhani.

At the same meeting, Foreign Minister of Malaysia Anifah Aman stressed that Kuala Lumpur is determined to deepen its ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran in all fields.

He added: “In the post-sanctions opportunity, cooperation should increase in the fields of science, tourism and economy, in accordance with extensive capabilities and facilities of Iran and Malaysia”.

The Malaysian FM also officially invited Dr Rouhani to visit Kuala Lumpur on behalf of the country’s prime minister.
