Iran-Pakistan ties strategic/Stressing development of Tehran-Islamabad mutual, regional, int’l ties/ Iran-Pakistan cooperation in fighting terrorism benefits both countries, region, world

Iran-Pakistan ties are strategic, President said before leaving for Pakistan, adding: “Visiting and conversing with high-ranking Pakistani officials, meeting of high-ranking delegations of both countries, and negotiating in the field of development of ties, as well as implementing agreements are amongst the goals of this trip to the friend, neighbouring and Muslim country”.

ore leaving for Pakistan on Friday, Dr Rouhani told reporters at Mehrabad Airport: “Pakistan is very important for the Islamic Republic of Iran in that it has got great people and religious, historical, and cultural commonalities”.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has had good relations with Pakistan from the country’s independence and today the relations between the two countries are strategic” continued Dr Rouhani.

He added: “The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to develop relations and ties with Pakistan in various political, economic, and cultural fields”.

“Regarding economic relations, Iran can be a power supplier for Pakistan, including oil, gas, and electricity” said the President.

On establishment of security at shared borders of Iran and Pakistan, he added: “The existing security agreements between the two countries should be implemented and executed as soon as possible”.

President Rouhani also mentioned transportation and said: “Iran and Pakistan can have further cooperation in the field of transportation and transit”.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran and Pakistan have close and common cultures with each other… and we should try to develop relations in this field” added Rouhani.

Referring to regional and international cooperation between Iran and Pakistan, Dr Rouhani continued: “The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan can cooperate with each other in international organisations on security in the region and combatting terrorism and this cooperation can definitely benefit both countries, the region, and the world”.

President Rouhani is accompanied by Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Interior, Petroleum, Industry, Energy, and Health, as well as Governor of Central Bank of Iran and the Governor General of Sistan and Baluchestan province.
