President in a joint press conference with his Vietnamese counterpart:

Iran-Vietnam business transactions to rise $2b in a 5-year period

“Iran and Vietnam have common experiences and interests in regional and global stages and we can use these two factors for achieving common goals of both countries,” said President Rouhani in a joint press conference with his Vietnamese counterpart President Trương.

In this press conference which happened on Monday in Tehran, Dr Rouhani added: “Both countries have experienced the bitter period of imposed war and sanctions and both have resisted against it well”.

On close viewpoints of the two countries about regional and global issues, President Rouhani also said: “Iran and Vietnam are in close cooperation in international communities including the UN and NAM and this cooperation will further develop”.

“Despite good potentials for further economic cooperation, we have not been able to use them due to sanctions, therefore, today we decided to boost our business transactions from $350 million to $2 billion in a 5-year period” continued Dr Rouhani.

“We also decided that the Central Banks of both countries sign an MoU to function as the first step in developing economic ties” added Rouhani.

Dr Rouhani also said that agreements were reached in areas such as energy, industry, agriculture, tourism, investment, culture, universities and science and communications technology.

Terrorism and the need to develop cooperation between Iran and Vietnam was another issue under discussion today, he said adding: “The President of Vietnam expressed his support of Iran-proposed WAVE resolution in the UN”.

“We also discussed issues sometimes witnessed in East Asia and we shared the opinion of solving them through political ways and through negotiation” continued President Rouhani.

In this joint press conference, President Trương Tấn Sang also said: “We agreed to put economic and trade cooperation in our top priority list and prepare the groundwork for cooperation between private sectors of the two countries”.

“Today, peace and stability in the region and the world is at danger and it is necessary that all countries attempt to establish peace in the world” continued Vietnamese President while talking about regional and international issues.

He continued: “We also agreed that resolving regional and international issues should be carried out peacefully and by respecting international regulations”
