Gov’t gives heed to air pollution, its hazards/Executive organs participate seriously in eliminating air pollution/ National IDs to be valid until the end of 1396

President presided the regular weekly cabinet session on Wednesday and said that air pollution and its hazards are paid careful attention by the government, people’s lives and health being the first priority.

“It is necessary that all executive organs seriously participate in eliminating this issue” said Dr Rouhani referring to air pollution.

He added: “Confronting air pollution and its consequent hazards has been a top priority in the government’s agenda from the very first day and I hope that with pre-emptive measures and attempts by all related executive organs air pollution can be confronted for the people to see its tangible results”.

In this meeting, Ministry of Health and Department of Environment also gave reports on the phenomenon in different cities of the country.

The report included the effects of different factors such as native vegetation as the source of pollution affecting the air in some cities.

Eliminating petrochemical petrol and constant monitoring of air pollution, as well as Euro 4 petrol were also amongst the proposed plans to reduce air pollution.

During the meeting, national ID cards were also approved by the Council of Ministers to remain valid until the end of year 1396 as an extension to the previous deadline of 1394.

The Council of Ministers also agreed to an increase in financial capitals of the Central Bank from 43.4 to 48.4 trillion rials from the precautionary reserves.

The cabinet also approved the proposal of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance on reforming the executive regulations of the Law on Elimination of barriers to production, subject to lease Sukuk (Sharia-compliant bound) issuance, repayment of profits guaranteed by the government and state-owned enterprises.

Members of the government also reviewed and discussed the economic report of the Economic Commission on accounting bill of the equity shares (Sahame Edalat) and amendment of the general policies of the Principle 44 of the Constitution.

After discussing general topics, the cabinet postponed the meeting to next session.
