President in a meeting with Omani FM:

Iran-Oman ties amicable, strategic/Tehran-Muscat economic coop. be cemented in post-JCPOA/More facilities needed for private sectors

 “The level of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries should be elevated along with political ties” said President Rouhani in a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman Yusuf bin Alawi.

In this meeting which was held on Sunday in Tehran, Dr Rouhani said: “Iran-Oman ties, which has been based on friendship, brotherhood, and mutual trust, are exemplary in the region and Tehran welcomes development of economic ties with Muscat”.

Referring to Oman’s policies to strengthen stability and peace in the region, Dr Rouhani appreciated the country’s stance in Iran’s nuclear issue and said: “It is necessary that both countries use the post-JCPOA environment to cement their mutual cooperation, especially in economic fields”.

“We should identify both countries’ facilities and capacities to use them for developing mutual cooperation and welfare of both Iranian and Omani nations” continued Rouhani.

On investment capacities in Sea of Oman, President also said: “Private sectors of both countries can develop their cooperation in areas related to ports, aviation, railways, and banking”.

He also expressed Iran’s readiness to prepare the ground for Omani investors and merchants and said: “Facilitating Iranian merchants’ access and paving the way for both countries’ private sectors’ activities and cooperation is necessary”.

Dr Rouhani also expressed hope that Omani high-ranking delegation’s trip to Tehran start a new movement toward developing Tehran-Muscat ties.

In this meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman Yusuf bin Alawi also said that Muscat is determined to elevate the existing level of cooperation with Tehran.

“Iran and Oman facilities and economic capabilities can help to further deepen ties between the two countries” added Oman’s Foreign Minister.

He also said: “Oman welcomes Iranian merchants’ active presence by providing them with special facilities”.

Stressing the importance of cooperation between the two countries in energy sectors, he added: “The two countries’ economies complete each other and this fact has pave the ground for mutual cooperation that will be beneficial to both nations”.
