President in a meeting with Iran’s new ambassador to Ankara:

Close ties with neighbours Iran’s principal policy

President met with the new Iranian ambassador to Ankara and described Iran’s close and friendly relations with its neighbours as a principal policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and said: “Tehran-Ankara relations and cooperation in economic, cultural, and tourism fields should be cemented”.

In this meeting which happened on Tuesday, Dr Rouhani told Ambassador Mohammad Ebrahim Taherian: “In the framework of Tehran’s principal policy, which is based on development of close relations and cooperation with its neighbours, cementing ties with Turkey is of significance to Iran”.

He also referred to regional issues, as well as its security and stability and added: “The Islamic Republic of Iran will continue its negotiations and discussions about regional issues in order to provide and strengthen stability and security of the region”.

In this meeting, Ambassador Taherian briefed the President on the location of his mission.
