In a telephone conversation with his Iraqi counterpart;

President: JCPOA fosters Iran’s economic cooperation with Iraq/ Iran proved that developing countries can defend everyone’s rights by resistance

President Rouhani had a telephone conversation with the President of Iraq, saying: “Iran defending its nuclear rights and eventually official implementation of JCPOA proved that developing countries can defend everyone’s rights by resistance against big powers, as well as conversation and negotiation.

President Rouhani had a telephone conversation with his Iraqi counterpart on Wednesday initiated by Fuad Masum and said: “With the agreement reached, JCPOA implemented, and sanctions lifted, we can accelerate growing the level of economic and trade cooperation with our neighbours, especially Iraq”.

He also thanked Mr Masum for extending his congratulations on the occasion of the official implementation of JCPOA.

Dr Rouhani also congratulated Iraqi army and civilian forces’ victory over ISIS terrorist group in Al-Ramadi and Al-Anbar and said: “We hope that government and people of Iraq can drive terrorists out of their country”.

Dr Rouhani continued: “It is not acceptable to us that a country or a power wants to manipulate Iraq’s internal affairs or occupy a part of our friend and neighbour Iraq”.

Stressing that Iranian nation and government will stand by Iraqi nation and government, he continued: “Preserving Iraq’s national sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity is very important to the Islamic Republic of Iran and we view Iraq’s stability and security as our own”.

President also underscored continuing cooperation and consultation between the two countries regarding mutual subjects and complicated issues of the region.

In this telephone conversation, Mr Masum congratulated official implementation of JCPOA and expressed hope that in the current condition, Iran’s move towards a brighter future gain momentum.

He also said: “Without a doubt, the nuclear agreement contributes to region peace and security more than before.”

“Your tactful and wise policies can defend the rights of Iran in the region and we hope to witness Islamic Iran’s more development and prosperity.” he said, referring to Iran and Iraq historical and religious commonalities.
