President while receiving credentials of the new Cambodian ambassador:

Iran to expand level of relations with East Asian countries

The Islamic Republic of Iran, as a stable country in the region and one of the important members of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), favours expanding ties with the East Asian countries, especially ASEAN member countries, said President Rouhani while he was receiving credentials of the new Cambodian ambassador.

In this meeting with Pich Khunpanha which was held on Monday, President Rouhani said that the Cambodian people, who tried hard to win their independence, are well-known by the Iranian nation.

Stressing the need to develop ties between the two countries in all areas, he added: “Today, we are happy that Cambodia is on track to development and advancement”.

Dr Rouhani also referred to the need to create facilities for developments in tourism industry between the two countries and said: “We hope that during your term, potentials and capacities for investment in Cambodia be introduced to the Iranian private sector and entrepreneurs”.

In this meeting, Ambassador Khunpanha presented his credentials to President Rouhani and appreciated Iran’s support of Cambodia in international organisations.

He also noted the extensive potentials of his country in different sectors such as agriculture and tourism and said: “Cambodia calls for Iranian investors to have economic activities in different sectors of economy and industry in the country”.
