President describes unity as key in the Islamic World, deplores Nigeria incident

President Rouhani congratulated the Week of Unity as an invaluable memory by the founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini (RA) and said: “Unity in the Islamic communities is still the most important need for the Islamic World”.

Speaking as the chairman of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution meeting late on Tuesday, President Rouhani expressed sorrow over the Nigeria incident and the killing of a lot of innocent people.

“I do not approve of the killing of any innocents, including Muslim and non-Muslim, or Shia and Sunni” added president.

He also referred focusing on the issue by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and his telephone conversation with his Nigerian counterpart and said: “Conditions require that the Nigerian government quickly address the issue and take necessary action to clarify the dimensions of the incident, as well as prevent such incidents from happening in the future”.

Dr Rouhani also described taking care of the injured, especially Sheik El-Zakzaky as necessary and said that Iran was ready to send medical teams and aid to help cure the injured.

In this session, the Council also discussed the issue of social harms focused by the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the last meeting of the Council with him.
