President: Iran, Spain determined to develop mutual ties

Iran and Spain are determined to develop ties, said President Rouhani in a meeting with Eduardo López Busquets the new Spanish ambassador in order to receive his credentials.

President Rouhani, on Tuesday, said: “Tehran and Madrid have got good potentials in cultural, scientific, research, and tourism areas in addition to economy”.

“According to plans, the unjust sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran will be lifted by the end of 2015. Currently, a lot of European and Asian countries are busy strengthening their presence and cooperating in economic plans of Iran and Spanish entrepreneurs should try not to fall behind” added Rouhani.

President continued: “Spain has got a good place in Iranian nation’s memories and there is no obstacle on the way of expanding ties”.

On Spain’s temporary membership in the UN Security Council, President said: “We believe that Madrid can play a fruitful and positive role in the Security Council in solving issues of the region such as terrorism”.

In this meeting, Busquets presented his credentials to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and conveyed a message from the king of Spain, condoling the Mina catastrophe. He continued: “Spain is determined to expand ties with Iran in all areas of interest”.

Mentioning his country’s economic delegations’ visit to Tehran, he added: “In the course of responsibility in Tehran, I will do my best to develop Tehran-Madrid ties in all areas, especially culture and economy.”

On holding a joint seminar on reviewing the history of Iran-Spain ties next month, Busquets said: “Spain has got ample experience in water crisis and managing its use and we are ready to provide Iran with them”.
