Rouhani: Moharram must be the month of devotion, sacrifice and generosity

President Hassan Rouhani in a Mourning ceremony with disable orphans underline the propagation and promotion of the lessons of devotion, sacrifice, dedication and generosity taught in the course of martyrdom of Imam Hussein (PBUH) and his noble family and royal companions.

Along with a visit to the charity child care institute of Paradise of Imam Reza (AS) here in the west of Tehran, he met the disable orphans dwelling there, participated in their Tsu'a mourning ceremony which marks the ninth day of the lunar month of Muharram, on the eve of the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (PBUH), the third Imam of Shi'a.

In the frank ceremony of the adolescents and youth under the protection of the institute, Rouhani pointed to the necessity of sympathetically, morally and spiritually supporting of such people, and said: "They are our dear children, verily they should not feel being alone and disintegrated from the society".
The Imam Reza institute is now fully looking after about 146 disabled orphan infants, teens and youths from 1-23.

Stating "One of the main indexes and criteria for the citizens of an Islamic and culture oriented society is to aid those vulnerable in the society", he said: "Moharram is the month during the days and nights of which we must promote the lessons of devotion, sacrifice, dedication and generosity taught in the course of martyrdom of Imam Hussein (PBUH) and his noble family and royal companions".

Adding that "All human life values depends on the devotion and dedication to others and how to serve public, as well", he pointed to the other capabilities and inner merits and talents of such disable orphans and described their life as a message to our generation that "if a person is decisive to strive hard and move forward, definitely the all-Mighty God will always provide him/her the path to flourish and to salvation".

At the end of the visit Dr. Rouhani expressed hope the country would see development by use of all capacities of the nation.

During the ceremony in which a minister, an aid and a consultant to the President were present, poems recited and sermons delivered in the honor of one of the holiest figures of Shi'a Islam and his 72 companions, who were martyred in the Battle of Karbala, in southern Iraq, in 680 AD after fighting bravely in a battle for justice with the much larger army of the Umayyad caliph, Yazid I, which some historians have said was 100,000-strong.
