President Rouhani reviews the latest developments on Mina stampede accident

President Hassan Rouhani in a telephone conversation late on Saturday with First Vice-President Dr Jahangiri reviewed the latest reports and measures done to follow up the case, aid the victims of the accident and issued the necessary orders in this regard, as well.

He was briefed in the conversation about the details of the measures done for immediately transfer of the bodies of deceased and injured Iranian pilgrims back home, and to provide the injured with medical care.

He also re-expressed his sympathy with the families of the victims and asked Al-mighty Allah mercy for the martyrs, rapid recovery for the injured, a safe and healthy Hajj performance for Iranian pilgrims.

It must be noted that President Hassan Rouhani in a meeting with Ban Ki-Moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations late on Saturday harshly criticized the Saudi government's actions in relations with the catastrophic accident in Mina and regretfully said that the government does not fully cooperate in dealing with the missing persons’ issues, transferring the injured and the bodies of the dead.

"It is necessary that the Secretary-General remind the Riyadh government of its legal and humanitarian duties" added Rouhani.

Following the Mina stampede, President also ordered a cabinet special meeting being held on Friday in order to look into the different dimensions of Mina sad  incident and set up a special headquarter to do necessary follow ups in this regard.
