"At the early stages of Iran's nuclear program, the big powers called on us to halt our nuclear activities for ten years so that they might add our name to the list of nuclear countries," he said.

"In 2006, the big powers offered us several proposals and told us if we halted our nuclear activities they would send their experts to Iran to hold Internet training course and that they would start trading with us," said the president.

"In those offers they mentioned that if any country launched nuclear attack on Iran, they would let us lodge our complaint with the United Nations Security Council," underlined the president.

"All powers did their best to defeat us but they were not able to impose their will on the Iranian nation and it was the Iranian people who single handedly imposed their will on them," he said.

President Ahmadinejad arrived in Khuzestan province Thursday morning to inaugurate several major petrochemical and development projects.

The president, accompanied by several members of his cabinet, was warmly welcomed by local officials.

Oil Minister Gholam-Hossein Nozari, Minister of Communication and Information Technology Mohammad Soleymani, and Minister of Road and Transportation Mohammad Rahmati are accompanying President Ahmadinejad in his provincial tour.
