'We call for bolstering of friendship between Iran and Afghanistan and exchange of visits between the two countries' nationals through legal channels,' he said.
Iran is to help Afghanistan to uphold its cultural and economic activities, he said.
President Rouhani also underlined that poppy cultivation should be banned in order to uproot narcotics in Afghanistan.
On expansion of bilateral cooperation, President Rouhani said Iran can help in various sectors such as railroads, industry, mine and investments in the neighboring Afghanistan.
The Afghan president called for Iran's support in the fight with drug traffickers and terrorists in Afghanistan.
'Unfortunately, we are witnessing daily war and bloodshed in Afghanistan which should be halted as soon as possible,' he said.
He also called for expansion of economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries and said Iran has always backed Afghanistan.
Ghani expressed the hope that Iranian experts and engineers can help Afghanistan make a breakthrough in reconstructing the country and restoring stability and security in the war-hit country.
Completion of rail road projects will help lessen costs of transit of goods in Afghanistan, said the Afghan president.
