President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, Sunday morning on a landmark visit to the country by an Iranian president after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, Sunday morning on a landmark visit to the country by an Iranian president after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

The president was welcomed at airport by Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshiyar Zebari a number of senior Iraqi officials.



He is to be later officially welcomed by President Jalal Talabani of Iraq at the Presidential premises.



The visit is taking place at the official invitation of President Ahmadinejad's Iraqi counterpart, Jalal Talebani.



President Ahmadinejad heads a ranking delegation which included Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, ministers of energy, economy and transport as well as a group of Majlis deputies.
