ˈWe feel that the defenseless women and children of Gaza in this fasting month of Ramadan are exposed to very tough conditions and the siege of the Gaza residents has even totally deprived the people of the needed food and medicine, ˈ said the president.
ˈAn immediate measure and harmonized move by the international organizations, the regional countries, and especially the OIC and the AL is needed, ˈ he said.
President Rouhani said that Emir of Kuwaitˈs stands on the people of Palestine were positive and therefore, since he is the current Head of the Arab League those stands are of great importance.
ˈImmediate and serious steps need to be taken, and we, too, are ready for any kind of consultations aimed at achieving an immediate ceasefire, ˈ he said.
President also announced Iran’s readiness for any kind of participation in assisting the Palestinian people, stressing the need for finding a way to send food and medicine for the people in need there.
ˈWe must join hands to contribute to faster extinguishing of the devastating fire in the region sooner, ˈ said Dr.Rouhani.
He once again emphasized the need to forward assistance for the wounded and needy people in Gaza, reiterating that side by side with the catastrophe in Palestine, we are witnesses to unrest and massacre of people in Iraq and Syria today.
ˈThe Iranian foreign minister will be in touch with his Kuwaiti counterpart for consultations in this regard, ˈ said President Rouhani.
Kuwaitˈs Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jabir al-Sabah, too, said in the phone talk that the prevailing conditions in Palestine are painful and cause for deep sorrow for everyone.
ˈI have commissioned the minister of foreign affairs to contact the Arab League and the United Nations to seek a way to resolve the ongoing crisis and at least to establish a ceasefire, ˈ he said.
He ensured the Iranian presided that the feeling he has about the Palestinian issue is the same as the feeling that everyone has.
ˈOn collecting contributions to Gaza residents, too, we have collected them in Kuwait and packed them for sending. Also, our brethren in the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council, too, have dispatched contributions, ˈ he added.
The Emir of Kuwait meanwhile asked for greater attention of the Arab leaders to the Gaza catastrophe, arguing, ˈUnfortunately, the present day conditions in Gaza are very painful and the massacre of the innocent people is very sorrowful for us.ˈ
