The President made the announcement before leaving Tehran for Ankara on a two-day visit which is taking place upon an official invitation by his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul.
Referring to Turkey as a key regional state and Iran’s western neighbor, President Rouhani said the two capitals enjoyed very good political and economic relations in the past years.
He added that during his visit to Turkey, the two sides will discuss previously made agreements on bilateral cooperation.
Promotion of Tehran-Ankara cooperation particularly in the fields of energy, oil, gas and electricity is another major topic to be discussed during the President’s visit.
According to President Rouhani several agreements are to be inked on bilateral cooperation in political, security, cultural and tourism affairs during his Turkish visit.
Referring to the geopolitical situation of both Iran and Turkey, he said “Cooperation between the two capitals means linking the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman to the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. In fact, this means to link the Indian Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean therefore Tehran-Ankara relation is not only important for the two nations but it is also crucial for the entire region.”
President Rouhani added that Iran and Turkey have common regional and international concerns including the situation in Iraq and Syria as two neighbors of both countries.
He also added that issues related to the Middle East, including Palestine, are major topics always discussed by Iran and Turkey.
President Rouhani said fight against violence, extremism, sectarian conflicts and terrorism was Iranˈs major objective.
He said the first meeting of the two cabinets will be held in line with Tehran-Ankara will to promote the level of bilateral relations.
Ministers of the two countries are to attend a high commission session to discuss major bilateral issues, said the President.
