President, Kuwaiti Emir stressed the development of Tehran – Kuwait ties

Iranian President and the Emir of Kuwait, at the meeting of high-ranking delegations of the two countries, stressed the need to develop, strengthen and deepen the mutual relations between Iran and Kuwait.

Dr.Rouhani underlined the need for the further promotion of bilateral ties between the two countries.
President said Tehran attaches great significance to ties with Kuwait and expressed hope that the Kuwaiti Emir’s trip would "open a new chapter for the expansion of cooperation" between the two countries.
President Rouhani said that there is no doubt that the current visit of the Kuwaiti Emir to Tehran will be regarded as a turning point which leaves positive impacts on both sides relations.
“We have historical and common interests with Kuwait and grounds are prepared for the expansion of relations,” Dr.Rouhani added.
Dr.Rouhani added there are many capacities in the way of economic relations between the two countries but, unfortunately, current economic ties level is not adequate.
Referring to government plans to create investment opportunities in Iran, Dr.Rouhani said that in southern area of Iran, including Abadan and Khorramshahr, cities close to Kuwait, there are many grounds for investment by Kuwaiti public and private sectors.
Concerning tourism expansion between Iran and Kuwait, Dr.Rouhani said that necessary facilities should be prepared for people of both countries.
Referring to necessity of strengthening economic and trade ties between the two countries and elimination of problems, President Rouhani pointed out that the two states are close to each other culturally, historically and geographically.
President said: “The relations between the two countries should be enhanced as much as possible; in fact there is no obstacle and limit to the expansion of economic, political and cultural ties between the two states.”
Political intention of both countries officials is in direction of expansion and deepening of all-out ties, so senior officials should have a plan for developing relations, said President Rouhani.
He continued that Iran and Kuwait have close and common views on regional and international political issues, adding that the Middle East region has been facing many problems in the past years, but we are glad that today we are witnessing a relative stability in the countries of the region.
Undoubtedly, stability and security in the region are the first conditions for development of relations and cooperation between countries of the region.
President Rouhani called radicalism and violence among important elements of instability and existing security problems in the region and stressed that we have to fight against radicalism and terrorism together and try to strengthen unity among Islamic umma.
Referring to existing problems in a number of countries of the region such as Syria and Iraq, Dr.Rouhani said that all countries of the region should help create tranquility and security in the region.
President by referring to Iranˈs readiness to develop relations with members of Persian Gulf Cooperation Council ( PGCC) in direction of settling existing problems said that removing regional problems depends on cooperation between Iran and Iraq and their participation in decision making, because if we want more security in the Persian Gulf, all littoral states should stay with each other to achieve determined goals.
President Rouhani also underlined necessity of interaction and cooperation between littoral states of the Persian Gulf in the field of environmental problems and using resources of the Persian Gulf.
Expressing Iranˈs serious concern over terrorism in the region, Dr.Rouhani said that we believe all countries should try together to fight terrorism and Iran is ready to assist every country, which intends to confront with terrorism.
The Kuwaiti Emir expressed pleasure with his visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran and said that the Kuwaiti delegation has firm determination to develop economic, cultural and political cooperation with Iran.
The Kuwaiti Emir made clear that the Kuwaiti delegation will not end the visit to Tehran until reaching agreement on major economic and cultural cooperation envisaged earlier by the two Iranian and Kuwaiti governments.
