Addressing the weekly cabinet session, President Ahmadinejad offered condolences to the Pakistani nation and government, especially the bereaved family of Mrs. Bhutto, on behalf of the Iranian government and nation.

Condemning the criminal act, President Ahmadinejad said Pakistani people and parties should strive for peace and cohesion in their country.

He said that terrorist acts and clashes in Pakistan in recent months have been drawn away from party politics and election campaign.

"Evidently, visible or invisible hands of the enemy have targeted the roots of independence, integrity and dignity of the great and important country, Pakistan," said the president.

He said Pakistan is an important country, founded through a public uprising in line with Islamic objectives coupled with self-devotion of a brave nation.

He added that these days, Pakistan is in sensitive and crucial juncture and the bright and brilliant fate of that part of Muslim world depends on the function of parties and groups as well as the influential figures of the country today.

He hoped that the dear Pakistani people will through their historical vigilance and prudence avoid expanding the dimension of clashes and fratricide.

He advised Pakistani statesmen and dignitaries to try to restore calm through dialogue and understanding, while maintaining the integrity and dignity of Pakistan.
