Iran trying to gain self-sufficiency in pharmaceutical production

The achievement makes the Islamic Republic one of the four countries possessing the technology.

President Hassan Rouhani lauded the country's experts and scientists for the efforts they have made to gain self-sufficiency in producing different medicines, and said Iran plans to stand on its feet in this field.
Dr.Rouhani told reporters when inaugurating the first production line of growth hormone in Tehran on Friday that Iran is trying to become self-sufficient in some medicines production.
President said that Iran has made giant moves in different fields of science and technology, mainly in medical sciences and drug production.
He said Iran was fully dependent on foreign countries to obtain growth hormone but the country has now become self-sufficient in producing the hormone thanks to endeavors made by the domestic experts in the field of biotechnology.
The president also said that in accordance with (the principles of) the Resistance Economy, “we should stand on our own feet and export our products to other countries”.
This Iranian calendar year (started on March 21) is the year of economic prosperity and resistance economy, he said.
Referring to the Islamic Republic of Iran's scientific and technological capabilities, President Rouhani stressed that Iran is doing its best to stand on its feet.
